Presentation

1. Who is the artist?

   - The name of the artist who painted this piece was called Rene Magritte. he was born on the 21 of November, 1898 and past away on the 15 of august, 1967. (age 68)

2. What do you see in the painting?

   - A man standing with a floating green apple covering his face. the man is also wearing a suit and also a top hat. If you look closely you can see a part of his eye is peeking out the top right side of the apple. In the background of the painting there is a ledge and a cloudy sky.

3. What does this painting mean?

   - This painting was originally a self portrait. The simple meaning is the awareness of oneself.

4. Why do you like it?

   - At first I thought the painting was really random but after reading about it I realized that it had a deeper and more interesting meaning. After a bit of research I found that it means being aware of oneself and their opportunities in life. I also found out that the title also mimics the story of Adam and Eve, the creation and fall of man. This is because  Adam could not see that he already had everything he needed in front of him.

5. What type of surrealist is it?

   - Joining of objects in weird combinations.

6. How did surrealism start?

-It was originally a literature movement officially created in 1924. Surrealism was created to explore dreams, imagination and thoughts. Andre Breton who was a poet once famously said "Surrealism is based on the belief in the superior reality of the dream."

Croissant

The food that I decided to do my project on is the croissant. A croissant is a French pastry invented in 1683. The croissant is a sweet puff pastry that is shaped in a crescent. The croissant was originally created in Austria when they were being attacked by the Turkish Empire but the French later adapted and change the recipe. I like eating croissants because I enjoy eating different layers of the puff pastry. Overall I think that of you should try it if you have not.

How to make croissants

1. Bloom the yeast

- Add warm milk, sugar, and yeast to a bowl, then give it a quick stir with a fork. afterwards, let it bloom for 5-10 minutes

2. Make the dough

- Add to the bloomed yeast your flour and salt. then knead until sold and elastic.

3. Laminate your dough

- Place your butter in the center, and fold the edges of the dough rectangle over to cover the butter completely. Roll the dough out so it’s back to 16×10 inches, then fold it letter-style into thirds. Repeat this process 5 times, then put it into the fridge to rest for an hour

4. Bake the croissants

- roll out the dough until it is about a quarter-inch thick. then cut the dough into long triangles and roll starting from the wide end. then you can put it onto a baking sheet and bake for 8-12 minutes at 375 fahrenheit
